Our terms of business are set out in this document. If you purchase our services or take up an offer with us, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions unless we reach a written agreement with you varying them. Checking pottery before decorating We buy our supplies from a reputable dealer. Pottery before it is decorated and glazed is called “bisque”. This is more fragile than finished items. As such we endeavour to check each piece you intend to decorate in front of you before you do so. This is done by balancing the piece on one hand and gently flicking with the finger of the other hand. If a piece has a weakness or crack it gives a dull sound, rather than a ringing sound. If we identify this we will replace the piece prior to decoration. Take home kits We will check each piece of bisque you intend to take home in front of you, as described above. Bisque is fragile. We are not responsible for damage to items that happens between this test and when it is returned to us for glazing and firing. i.e when the piece is in your care. Return to you of fired pieces When you finish your piece we will give an estimated date when we expect the piece to be glazed, fired and ready for us to return to you. This will normally be 7 days after you finish it. For parties and group events we will return the pieces to you ourselves, normally to where the party or event took place unless we agree otherwise. For pieces done as “take away” and for commissions we will agree with you whether we deliver them to you or post the pieces. (Please see below about postage.) The estimated date is not a guarantee of the final completion date. The nature of the product and the firing process means that a degree of flexibility may sometimes be required. For this reason we recommend that any items required for a specific day are painted at least two weeks in advance of that date. If there is a delay to our estimated date we will endeavour to telephone you as soon as possible to inform you of when the piece will actually be ready. If any pieces of glazed and fired pottery are returned to us as undeliverable we will attempt to contact you. We will hold such pieces for six months from the date of first painting but cannot guarantee to keep them longer than that due to shortage of space. We cannot take responsibility for how items are handled or used once they have been collected. Pottery is fragile and will chip or break if misused. We can advise on the use of items in ovens, dishwashers, microwave ovens and outdoors. However, if the piece is very precious we recommend that you avoid these as much as possible Courier and Postage We are happy to send completed pottery by post or courier on request. We can advise you of the cost of this, which will depend upon the size of your chosen product, and method of delivery. If an item has not been received by the expected delivery date, it is important to get in touch with us immediately so that we can contact the courier / postal service. Damaged items should be notified to us within 24 hours of delivery. Bookings When you arrange your party or event with us we will take a deposit of £50 to save our services for that time and date. The outstanding amount will be payable at the end of your party or event. This deposit is non-refundable, but we can transfer it once to another date/event within 6 months, if 3 weeks notice is given. When booking one of our pop up sessions a deposit may not be necessary, unless specified in the details of the event. Full payment will be expected at the time of the session. Commissions A commission will not be started until we have both signed a “brief” setting out your instructions and until we have been paid in full. We will then be able to give you an expected completion date, but that date cannot be guaranteed. When the piece has been finished we will contact you and arrange for it to be delivered to you. As these are bespoke pieces they cannot be changed once work has commenced. We cannot make any alterations to the original signed-off brief. The expected completion date is an estimate due to the nature of the process. This is usually at least one week before the actual due date to enable any corrections to be made and to allow for any kiln firing problems. For this reason we recommend that, if you want the commission for a specific date, you contact us well in advance. Commissions will not normally be accepted with a deadline of less than two weeks. Commissions that do not have a deadline date will be completed in date order in which they were briefed Promotions and offers One offer only can be redeemed per customer per visit. Please advise us when booking if you intend to rely on an offer. Any voucher can only be used once. Supervision of children At parties or events involving children you remain responsible for the supervision, safety and well-being of them. Liability to you We will endeavour to ensure that your pieces are glazed, fired and returned to you in the best possible condition. However, firing pottery is a dynamic process and things can go wrong (very occasionally). If we cannot return a piece to you in top condition then our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid for that particular piece.
